Stability and crisis management
The activities conducted by Expertise France for early recovery in crisis areas aim to address the dynamics and root causes of the fragility, and focus on:
Strengthening inclusive governance and access to justice
By supporting the transition processes of partner countries via the redeployment of the administration, capacity building for local governance structures, civil society, transitional justice and the preparation of electoral cycles.
Ensuring access to basic services and social services
By providing direct assistance to populations in crisis countries in the fields of health, food security and civil protection, while building the capacities of national and local institutions to provide essential public services.
Supporting the development of income-generating activities
By revitalising the local economic fabric in order to promote the development of income-generating activities and strengthen the resilience of populations in fragile situations.
In the Central African Republic, Expertise France has developed and is implementing the “Recovery and Stabilisation in CAR" project, a project to redeploy decentralized services, strengthen social cohesion and support early recovery. The aim is to accompany the stabilisation and recovery of the administration, society and the economy in a post-crisis context, with financing from the European Union’s Bêkou Fund. Its multi-sectoral approach and the deployment of activities in regions make this initiative a pilot project in the Central African Republic.
Following the creation of the European Union Regional Trust Fund “MADAD”, which was set up in order to meet the needs of neighbouring countries affected by the crises in Syria and Iraq, Expertise France, GIZ and AECID have developed the QUDRA project. It aims to strengthen the resilience of countries hosting refugees by promoting the economic and social integration of these refugees.
